Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠20:21 - Feb 1 with 2187 views | thame_hoops | Who is watching? Who you got?? A coin flip game I reckon but I'm going with the pats although I want Seattle to do it. Bbq is fired up, red bull, pro-plus, coffee and coors light on the go, booked days holiday tomorrow!
Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 20:31 - Feb 1 with 2173 views | 1BobbyHazell | Alright Thame, Seattle fan for over 30 years. The last 2 seasons have just been surreal. I've had a little window on what it must be like to be a Man U fan or some such. Proper excited but unfortunately can't see past the Pats winning quite comfortably. Just too many injuries, Mebane, Hill and Richardson out and all 3 of the Legion of Boom carrying issues. Just think they'll have enough options on O to score a few and a good enough D to keep Lynch reasonably quiet with corners that are much better than Kearse and Baldwin. Did you see the NFC champ game? F**k me, amazing, those last few minutes were almost Zamora like for me. Packers killed us mind.

Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 20:35 - Feb 1 with 2162 views | TearsOfaClown | watched it for the last 4 years - really worth doing it - if you get the coverage that blocks the US ads and so you get helpful studio chat and explanations. STILL can't say if I understand what is going on - a bit like watching RedCrap. O am going for the New England Patriots because I have cousins living in Plymouth Mass. who are also massive Red Sox fans . . . like we are Hooped Soxs fans.
Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 20:40 - Feb 1 with 2153 views | Hoop_Du_Jour | Been watching it since it came on Channel 4 in the 80s and love it! Gotta be up at 3am for work, so really can't stay up for the big one. Fully expect the Seahawks defence to hold out and prove too good.
Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 20:41 - Feb 1 with 2152 views | OakR | I'll be watching, quite like it now, and out of the big name American sports this is probably my favourite. Had forgotten it was on though, was going to head to bed in a bit until I saw this thread!

It was incredible, I almost switched over after the last interception from Wilson, but the come back and especially 2 pt conversion were awesome! I'm a vikings fan but I'm rooting for the Seahawks tonight.
Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 21:12 - Feb 1 with 2111 views | fLaMeBoY | 50/50 game! Really impossible to call. If the Seahawks play as they did in last years Super Bowl they will win, but Tom Brady...love or hate the guy you can never count out the Patriots. I can't stand the Patriots and the little sh1tbag Bill Bilichick so cheering for the Seahawks!

But I do find it very slow and staggered as an event. There is little fluency. A bit like watching a complex game of physical chess unfold, in between endless adverts and hoopla. Would welcome views....

I've always used the Chess With Olympic Athletes description. The mixture of world class physical ability and athleticism along with the most complex tactics and planning in sport make it quite unique even though I can understand what a (slow) mess it looks to the uninitiated. Agree with about the fluency, adverts and US hoopla bollox. Used to play in the 80's as well which helps the love of the game, and my Youth team (London Olympians) should have played a final at Loftus Road on the Plastic Wonder but we got kicked out after winning our quarter final because one of our rude boy players pulled a stanley knife on one of the oppo afterwards!! Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 22:05 - Feb 1 with 2040 views | thame_hoops | Massive Ravens fan here, Mrs is a Cowboys fan as she's from Dallas. Started watching in 2001 but in 2006 I got into it massively after business trips to Baltimore so I got introduced to the Ravens. Like any sport, when you get a connection to a team the enjoyment level goes up. It's a great strategy sport and once you get to know the rules well enough you appreciate it more, the tension is great and the stop/start of it gets forgotten amongst it all. I subscribe to NFL game pass so will watch the American coverage (via a VPN) as sky insist it's blacked out, can't stand the ch4 or sky coverage. The adverts will be fun, as will Katy Perry. Also, during the regular season, games are 6pm and 9:25 on a Sunday (late games also) so a nice way to chill and watch to finish the weekend. I'm Lucky as the Mrs likes it as much as me so it makes it even more fun. Give it a go if you haven't watvhed before, download the rules.

Live commentary from the Arizona Sun Devils Stadium, as we cross for live coverage of the greatest NFL game of the year when the World Champions will be crowned - ironically 9 of the two squads tonight do not have a passport, never having had a reason to leave the United States of America. First play......."Snap to Johnson, a quick fake, defensive ends hold, offload to Waranzowski II.............incomplete - Seahawks, 2nd down and 10 - we'll be back folks in ten minutes, after these important messages from your local station" Great, I'll just pop down to Sainsbury's Local for a few things and get back for 2nd down (first period)

Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 11:53 - Feb 2 with 1780 views | Lewes_r | Big Big Seahawks fan since the late 70s.. even had a season ticket in kingdome days when i lived there so ive seen it all.. mostly bad Im fairly philosophical about it this morning Bobby Hazell .. TBH it was a miracle we got that far and shouldnt have beaten green bay and Kearse had no business catching that ball to put us 1st and goal.. Im just enjoying the Seahawks being great for the last few years It was a great ride this season and we got to see Harbaugh sacked/fired too (which was nice) onwards and upwards.. lets get that WR matthews in the starting lineup next season!! What a finish. If it's a catch its a TD, a fumble or incompletion then the clock stops and still 2 more attempts with a time out (?) so I can see why they tried to throw and not run. That said lynch is such a beast but a stop and the clock still runs. Considering how brave and attacking Pete Carroll was earlier (TD before half time on 4th down) I'm surprised he didn't run it

I think it strikes a good balance between action and drama. Much as we all love football, it can be 90 minutes of watching absolutely nothing happen (especially if we are away). Ok the flip side, basketball ends up scoring points on 50% of possessions so hard to get to excited until the last couple of minutes if it's close. Like football, 75% of NFL games are still up for grabs coming into the final few minutes, so lots of opportunities for drama, and the combination of runs and passes leads to some spectacular athletic plays and unpredictability. And as someone else said, tactically it's fascinating (and more easily accessible in that regard to the viewer, unlike football where unless you have a trained eye the nuances/effectiveness of high pressing, man vs zonal marking etc might not be as obvious) But yes, those fcking constant stoppages kill me.
Super Bowl Sunday (NON QPR) 🈠on 15:36 - Feb 2 with 1657 views | Jigsore | That was strangely enjoyable. I don't really remember much though. My God if that's anything to go by the Rugby World Cup will be very boozy indeed

I tried to get into it in the 80's on Channel 4. I went with my brother to Wembley for the London Monarchs v Barcelona Dragons final. Tried to watch a few superbowls but just couldn't get into it. For me there are too many distractions (tv ads, razzamatazz etc) that are really just time fillers 'cos it's such a stop-start game. A game that last 60 minutes can go on for three hours. I don't like the way that when you are on the 'offence' you have a team of specialists to do that against the opposition who have a team of defenders. Then it switches around with a completely different group of players on the pitch, including specialist kickers. With football you have the same 22 players the whole game (subs aside) who all have to work as a unit covering all aspects, defence, attack, corners, free kicks and so on. Sometimes defenders score goals, sometime strikers defend. It's all one great mix. There's no right or wrong, they're just different and I prefer football. [Post edited 2 Feb 2015 15:57]
